Nine Most Common Reasons for Laser Tattoo Removal

September 5, 2017 By Dr. Aldridge

We see a lot of clients for tattoo removal for a number of reasons. Each tattoo has its own story, its own reason for existing and people have their own reasons for wanting their tattoos removed. But we thought it might help to illustrate some of the common reasons people pursue tattoo removal.

This list is certainly not exhaustive, but it does represent many common reasons we hear from our patients. If you can think of other reasons people might want their ink removed, feel free to comment below.

1.) It’s a bad tattoo.

A poorly executed tattoo performed by an inexperienced artist is common. Especially the jobs done inside of friend’s apartments. Misspelled tattoos are surprisingly common.

2.) Tattoo has faded over time.

A tattoo’s coloring can fade away. What was once a bright detailed tattoo now looks lighter, duller, and more blurry.

3.) A relationship ended.

Did you get a tattoo to commemorate what you thought was the love of your life? Sometimes, if a relationship comes to an end, you start to look at a tattoo differently. Then you come to TattooRemovers.ink.

4.) Tattoo went out of style.

If you got your tattoo based on a passing trend you might be considering laser tattoo removal.

5.). You’d like to join the military.

Some people have to get visible tattoos removed in order to answer the call of duty.

6.) You’d like to make a career change.

New career might need to mean new you. Some employers might favor a candidate without visible tattoos on the hands, arms, neck, and especially face.

7.) You’d like to get a different tattoo now.

Some people would like to clear the canvas for new artwork. If you want new ink, you have to get rid of the old first. Laser tattoo removal will not prevent you from getting a future tattoo in that area.

8.) Your spouse is not a fan.

We applaud individuals who are true to themselves, but maybe you have a tattoo that bugs your most significant other and are considering getting it removed.

9.) You’re plain and simply over it.

People change their minds. People fall out of love with their tattoo. We get a lot of these cases at our facility.

You have your reasons for wanting laser tattoo removal. Contact Dr. Aldridge today to get started with TattooRemovers.ink.

Common Tattoo Removal Concerns

June 6, 2017 By Dr. Aldridge

We like to be as transparent as possible with our patients, explaining our tattoo removal practice in Sherman Oaks, CA in full detail, shedding light on any lingering questions and concerns about any step in the process.

What is the cost of tattoo removal?

Cost will always vary because the idea is that no two tattoos are the same. No two bodies handle the process in exactly the same way. Multiple procedures will be necessary to remove your tattoos. Unfortunately, tattoo removal is generally not covered by insurance.

TattooRemovers.ink can promise you one thing: you will get the safest, most medically-advanced care at the most competitive and reasonable rates in the area. We’ll set out a treatment and pricing structure that works for you, fits your budget, and gives you the most effective treatment possible.

How long will it take to remove my tattoo?

This is another situation where it can vary from case to case. It’s a good idea to plan ahead. If you want to remove a tattoo for a wedding, it’s a good idea to plan well ahead, because the tattoo removal process relies on time and the body’s own natural healing processes. It’s safe to say that a patient will generally need 4 to 6 sessions in order to achieve desired results. It’s also important to wait the minimum of 6 weeks between laser tattoo removal treatments. You don’t want to stack treatments and put undue stress on your body’s healing process. Of course, the amount of time necessary to spend between sessions will depend on the individual. TattooRemovers.ink custom tailors our tattoo removal treatments to fit the individual.

Is the process going to be painful?

Generally, there will be will be sensations during the laser tattoo removal process. That may involve some level of discomfort or pain. Generally, the treatments are said to be less painful than patients expect them to be, by and large. Tattoo removal has come a long way since the old days, when invasive treatments like excision, TCA (Trichloroacetic acid) treatments, dermabrasion and salabrasion, and even cryosurgery, most of which leaving behind scarring. These processes are often painful and come with some risk attached. Laser tattoo removal is a far more precise and effective method of tattoo removal without resorting to surgery.

Will my laser tattoo removal leave a scar?

It is highly unusual for laser tattoo removal to leave a scar, though improper aftercare can certainly increase a patient’s risk of irritating blisters and scabs that are natural to the process. Patients with a history of keloids might be genetically predisposed to scarring, which is why it’s important to TattooRemovers.ink to know your medical history before we start treatment.

Can I use TattooRemovers.ink to revise my tattoos?

Patients who don’t want their tattoos completely removed, but, rather, want a specific selection from the tattoo removed, then we can accommodate this request. You can erase part of a larger piece to make room for new, more relevant body art. It’s important that we discuss your laser tattoo removal and aesthetic enhancement goals with TattooRemovers.ink during your initial consultation. From there we will custom tailor our tattoo removal program to fit your unique needs.

Am I going to experience side effects?

You can expect to experience one or some combination of the following side effects:

Redness

Tenderness

Blistering / Swelling

Scabs

Bruising

Hyperpigmentation / Hypopigmentation

These side effects are temporary. Of course, if these symptoms do not subside within a day or two maximum, consult with TattooRemovers.ink. It’s important to discuss side effects and aftercare ahead of time, in order to maximize healing and ensure that you enjoy lasting results.

Signs You Just Might Not be Ready for a Tattoo

May 8, 2017 By Dr. Aldridge

Obviously, since TattooRemovers.ink excels at laser tattoo removal in Sherman Oaks, CA, it’s in our interest for people to go out and get tattoos, and, better yet, get tattoos that they end up growing tired of or not liking. But we also like to make sure that patients and the general public alike know what they’re signing up for when they get a tattoo. We all know that getting a tattoo is a huge commitment. Here are some quick tips and scenarios that are pretty good indicators that maybe you shouldn’t go through with that tattoo. If you can read through this quick guide before you go through with getting your ink done and still feel 100% about getting that tattoo you’ve been meaning to get, then more power to you!

Probably best not to get a tattoo while drunk.

If you’re drunk, just don’t do it. Make a quick deal with yourself. Make sure that every tattoo idea you have is thought-out. If you get the inspiration one night when you’re out with your friends, maybe sleep on it. If you still want that tattoo in the morning when the light of day shines on your bright ideas, then go ahead and get that tattoo.

You’re not 100% sure about what you want.

If you don’t have a clear vision for your tattoo, then what really is the point? If you’re sifting through the tattoo books at the shop, then assume twenty people or so have the same tattoo you land on. Tattoos are much cooler when they say something about you and your unique experience. Spend some time conceptualizing what you want your tattoo to be and where you want it to go down the road.

You’re not 100% sure about where you want it.

It can be argued that where you get your tattoo is equally as important as what you get. If you don’t know exactly what you want and where you want to get it, then you probably shouldn’t go through with the tattoo just yet. Also, make sure that you inquire about the pain level because each body part is going to react to getting a tattoo very differently.

Imagine yourself at 50 or 60, looking at this tattoo in the mirror.

It might be powerful to imagine that tattoo that you just have to have on your 50 and 60-year-old body. It might put things into perspective. But also remember that everyone you know who has a tattoo right now will also be an old person with a tattoo if they all play their cards right. So you won’t be alone. A couple of decades from now there are going to be a ton of geriatrics with hip tattoos.

You have a low threshold for pain.

What’s the point of making yourself go through any sort of trauma if you have sensitivities that others don’t? None of us are wired completely the same. If you do think that you can withstand needles jabbing into your skin without getting queasy, then bring your best friend along and grip their hand tight when you sit through that tattoo.

You can’t afford it.

Even if you get a discount and you find yourself pinching the last of your pennies, there might be better ways to spend that hard-earned money. Then again, if you’re set on it, maybe those few duckets in the piggy bank were meant to be immortalized in the form of some sweet body art that you can wear forever and ever, or maybe get tired of and visit TattooRemovers.ink in order to get them removed.

You feel pressured or left out.

Don’t get a tattoo to fit in with a crowd, or, worse yet to impress a girl (unless she’s completely awesome, then go ahead and do it to impress that girl). Don’t follow the pack when it comes to tattoos. Of course, tattoos aren’t permanent, especially at TattooRemovers.ink, where the Cutera Enlighten laser works on dual wavelengths to remove a variety of tattoo shades.

You’re worried it might affect your job.

If you’re second guessing that tattoo because of a current or potential employer, then it’s a good idea to rethink that ink. Don’t put your livelihood in jeopardy over expressing yourself through body art.

Contact TattooRemovers.ink to learn more about what to ask yourself while you’re inquiring whether or not to get a tattoo. As with most plans of consequence, it’s best to have a plan and know what you’re getting into.

Of course, if you need tattoo removal in Sherman Oaks, CA, then pick up the phone and dial TattooRemovers.ink. We have cutting edge laser technology that can help you wipe the slate clean faster than ever before.

Transitioning Your Skin Care Routine into Spring

April 6, 2017 By Dr. Aldridge

TattooRemovers.ink is in the skin beautification business, and a part of that is keeping our clients aware of how they can take care of their skin beyond their treatments at our full-service tattoo removal facility.

As winter starts to have its last shining moments, it’s important to stay on top of your beauty regimen and perhaps even make some adjustments that might make the difference between getting caught off guard by the climate shift. We can sometimes take our skin for granted to the point of neglect. We go through weather extremities, and if you live in Southern California, you can go from chilly to hot and high in humidity in no time.

Switch up your moisturizer.

Dry conditions in the winter affect the skin, so it’s important to revitalize and replenish your skin’s moisture. Try to hit the double whammy and make sure you purchase a moisturizer that is also a skin protectant with an SPF level of 15 or higher. Sunflower oil and vitamin E are great for your skin, trapping moisture inside skin cells.

Make sure to literally hydrate. Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Make sure you drink a big glass right when you wake up in the morning. You’re at your most dehydrated, most likely, right when you wake up. You’ve just spent 6-8 hours, chances are, not drinking water. Chugging down a nice glass of water will get your body going in the morning, too. That and a cold shower. As cold as you can stand it.

Alternate between cleansing and exfoliating.

It doesn’t have to be an “either-or” scenario. Try not to exfoliate too often because it will dry out your skin. You really only need to be exfoliating twice a week at most. Avoid walnut shells or apricot pits, because they can irritate your skin. Look for facial scrubs that have beta hydroxy acids, and even brown sugar.

Give those toiletry cabinets a nice spring cleaning.

Try to get rid of products that are six months or older. If you have something that’s gathering dust in the back of your bathroom cabinet, then get rid of it. Old products can actually be hosts to bacteria, which will clog your pores and dull the skin.

Start using a facial cleansing brush!

You’ll be glad you did. Find the right brand and model for you. The winter has been harsh on your skin and it’s important to repair your skin, to buff it out.

Get those vitamins.

Vitamin B3 to resolve your redness, Vitamin C to help clear away blemishes. Vitamin E will add moisture to your skin. Have an arsenal that makes your skin look amazing!

Contact TattooRemovers.ink if you need to know more about how to take care of your skin in the spring months. If you have a tattoo that you’re tired of looking at, schedule an initial consultation and we’ll show you what our Cutera Enlighten Tattoo Removal Machine in Sherman Oaks, CA can do to wipe the slate clean again. Pick up the phone and call TattooRemovers.ink today!
